Our Services

Children

Every child is different and has specific needs that may present challenges.  Our unique programming for kids meets those needs and gives each child the skills needed for success.  Having an early start, presuming competence in everyone, and teaching instead of training helps those we serve prepare for life of true choice and inclusion.

Adult

When those with special needs age out of school services, their options for continuing education and training are severely limited in availability, personalization, and funding.  Henderson Haven maintains our low staff ratios in our adult programs to offer creative, individualized services enabling each person to reach for the most independent life possible.

Advocacy

Having a loved one with a disability can be overwhelming and leave little time to identify and explore the community resources in our area. Often, families don’t even realize assistance is available to meet their needs. Henderson Haven staff have years of experience, both personally and professionally, in this area and love to share this information with others.

Henderson Haven, Inc. provides donors, advocates, and volunteers the organization they need to support the inherent rights of all people to choose where, and with whom they work, live, and play, by providing them with the life skills and experiences they need to be successful.

The difference, in a nutshell, is attitude. We don’t believe the people we are serving should simply be watched. We feel they should be involved. We know that by empowering people to make choices in their lives, they are able to reach greater independence.

By including the developmentally disabled in daily activities, they learn new skills and continue to develop those they have. This system encourages people to grow and find fulfillment in their roles as members of a family, a community and, most importantly, on a personal level.

We strive to be the reason children and adults living in our community are seen for their skills, personalities, and contributions.  We see success when we reach the point where our services are no longer needed, and those we serve are able to independently continue the lives we’ve helped them build.

They are helping him find the things he can do instead of the things he can’t!  Henderson Haven really understands the needs of [individuals] with special needs . . . They just get it!

Henderson Haven has helped my daughter to function in society and be herself at the same time. She is becoming independent in ways that the school district therapists said she would never obtain. She actually gets up in the morning when we say it’s time to get ready for Free 2 Be Me when she is not a morning person! We love Henderson Haven and thank Lee & Sherri Henderson with their wonderful staff!

My son has had so much fun over the summer. He has also been excellently taken of. The staff at Henderson Haven is amazing with everything they do. I am looking forward to a new school year and my son and I are so happy that he gets to go to here after school. Henderson Haven I wish I met you sooner.

Henderson Haven has made it easier for us to cope with our son’s disability.  We have used their afterschool program, enrolled our son in their full-time school, and took advantage of social activities.  Although my son no longer uses their services, I continue to support Henderson Haven because of my gratitude for the contributions they make to me and my family and to the families of others with developmental disabilities.

You really feel like as a parent you have an extra support system when you are there.  I’ve gotten great ideas for sensory rooms and my son talks more and more every time he visits.  This is a great place and I have peace of mind that my son is being well taken care of and having a great time! He always has a huge smile on his face when I pick him up.
